How the Oliu™ Wallet works, step by step.

A practical walkthrough of using the wallet, from first download to daily use. If you've installed the app or you're thinking about it, this page is for you.

Getting started

Getting started

Setup takes about a minute. No credit card, no long form, no account to create.

01

Download the app

The Oliu™ Wallet is available on the App Store and Google Play. The download is free, and there's nothing to pay for later.

02

Open the wallet

The first time you open the app, you'll confirm you're in Canada and set up the wallet's security — using the same face, fingerprint, or passcode you use to unlock your phone.

03

That's it

The wallet is ready. It's empty, because you haven't received any credentials yet. That's the next step.

Receiving

Receiving a credential

A credential arrives in your wallet when an organization on the Oliu™ network issues it to you. This happens in one of two ways, depending on how the issuer delivers it.

Method 01

A link from the issuer

The issuing organization sends you an email or text with a link. Tap the link on your phone, and the credential is added to your wallet. Works the same way a booking confirmation or a boarding pass gets added to your phone.

Method 02

A QR code from the issuer

Sometimes — at the end of a course, for instance — the issuer shows you a QR code to scan. Open the wallet, scan the code, and the credential is added.

Either way, receiving a credential takes a few seconds. Once it's in your wallet, it's yours. You don't need to be online to show it later.

Showing

Showing a credential

When an employer, a site supervisor, a regulator, or anyone else needs to confirm a credential, you show them a QR code from your wallet.

01

Open the credential

Tap the credential in your wallet. You'll see a button that says "Show this credential."

02

Show the QR code

Tap the button. A QR code appears on screen. Hold your phone up for the verifier to scan.

03

They see only what they need

The verifier sees what's needed to confirm the credential — issuer, credential type, status, expiry. Where the credential supports it, you can choose to share only specific parts. They don't see your other credentials, your history, or anything you haven't chosen to share.

The verification happens in seconds. The verifier doesn't need an Oliu™ account, a special app, or a call back to the issuer. They scan, they see, they move on.

Keeping track

Keeping track of what you hold

Most working adults in Canada hold several credentials. The wallet is designed to keep them organized without requiring you to do the organizing.

All your credentials in one view

Every credential you hold appears on the wallet's home screen. Tap any credential to see its details — issuer, issue date, expiry, and status.

Automatic status updates

When a credential is about to expire, the wallet tells you. When an issuer updates or renews a credential, the update arrives automatically. You don't have to check.

Search and filter

As your wallet fills, you can search by credential name, issuer, or type. Most Canadians won't need this. If you do, it's there.

Lifecycle

When things change

A few situations come up over the lifetime of a credential. Here's how the wallet handles each.

Your credential expires

Expiring credentials show their expiry date. The wallet notifies you in advance. When the credential expires, it remains in your wallet as a record of what you earned, but it won't verify as current.

An issuer revokes a credential

If an issuer revokes a credential — for example, because a licence has been withdrawn — the change shows up in your wallet and in any verification someone runs on that credential.

You change phones

The wallet supports account recovery on a new device. Your credentials aren't tied to your specific phone. If you lose or replace your phone, you can restore your wallet and continue using the credentials you've earned.

You delete the app

Deleting the app doesn't revoke your credentials. They still exist, on the network, under your ownership. You can reinstall the wallet and recover them. If you want to permanently leave Oliu™, you can revoke your wallet through the account-closure process.
